Distributed Applications

We can use any of the following two approaches in designing a distributed application.
  • Communication-Oriented Design: Begin with the communication protocol. Design a message format and syntax. Design the client and server components by specifying how each reacts to in-coming messages and how each generates outgoing meassages.
  • Application-Oriented Design: Begin with the application. Design a conventional application program to solve the problem. Build and test a working version of the conventional program into two or more pieces, and add communication protocols that allow each piece to execute on a separate computer.

Semantics of Applications

  • Normal Application: A main program which may call procedures defined within the program (proc A in this case). On return from this procedure the program continues. This procedure (proc A) may itself call other procedures (proc B in this case). Refer to the figure below:

Display Message on Notice Board using GSM

Abstract

Notice board is primary thing in any institution or organization or
public utility places like bus stops, railway stations or parks. But
sending various notices day to day is a tedious process. This paper
deals with advanced notice board.
It presents an SMS based notice board incorporating the widely used
GSM to facilitate the communication of displaying message on notice
board via user’s mobile phone. Its operation is based on
microcontroller ATMEGA32 programmed in assembly language. A
SIM300 GSM modem with a SIM card is interfaced to the ports of the
microcontroller with the help of AT commands.
When the user sends a SMS via a registered number from his mobile
phone, it is received by SIM300 GSM modem at the receiver’s end.
SIM300 is duly interfaced through a level shifter IC MAX32 to the
microcontroller. The messaged is thus fetched into the microcontroller.
It is further displayed on an electronic notice board which equipped
with LCD display interfaced to microprocessor powered by a regulated
power supply from mains supply of 230 volts ac.
This project is our experiment on real time noticing.

Applications of Water Level Indicator:

Applications of Water Level Indicator:
  • Automatic Water level Controller can be used in Hotels, Factories, Homes Apartments, Commercial Complexes, Drainage, etc., It can be fixed for single phase motor, Single Phase Submersibles, Three Phase motors. (For 3Æ and Single Phase Submersible Starter is necessary) and open well, Bore well and Sump. We can control two motor and two sumps and two overhead tanks by single unit.
  • Automatic water level controller will automatically START the pump set as soon as the water level falls below the predetermined level (usually 1/2 tank) and shall SWITCH OFF the pump set as soon as tank is full.
  • Fuel level indicator in vehicles.
  • Liquid level indicator in the huge containers in the companies.
