Lets us Assume that there are two DTE and DTE lets say two computer as usually DTE devices are computers devices and the communication is done between them . Then Txd pin of the transmitter is connected to the RxD pin of Receiver and vice-versa. Similarly, the two ground terminal are connected to the ground and RTS (Request to sent ) of pin of transmitter is connected to the CTS (Clear to sent ) pin of the receiver and vice versa as shown in the figure , Similarly other handshaking signals are connected to the handshaking signals of the receiver.RS - 232 DTE - DTE Communication Signalling
