1.         Basic Electronics:
Semiconductor Materials: intrinsic & extrinsic semiconductor, impurities, doping, p & n type semiconductor, majority and minority charge carriers, theory of PN junction
Diodes: PN junction diode, zener diode, LED, photo diode, tunnel diode, varactor diode, schottky diode
Transistors: BJT – type, symbols, construction, operation, of configurations, characteristics and biasing; FET, MOSFET – type, symbols, construction, operation and characteristics
2.         Electronic Circuits:
Amplifiers: Types/Classes of amplifiers, CE, CC and CB amplifiers, push-pull amplifiers, feedback amplifiers, transistor power amplifiers, distortion in amplifiers
Oscillators: classification, principle, sinusoidal oscillators, relaxation oscillators.
Power Supplies and Voltage Regulators: half wave & full wave rectifiers, bridge rectifier, filter, voltage regulator circuits, short – circuit protection
Filter: RC-LC Filters, low pass, high pass and band pass filters, active filters
Operational Amplifiers (OP Amp) Circuits: inverting, non-inverting and differential amplifier

Number System: decimal, binary, octal, hexadecimal and BCD numbering systems, and their conversions
Logic Gates: NOT, OR, AND, NOR, NAND, X-OR, X-NOR gates, laws and theorems of Boolean algebra, K-map
Combinational Logic Circuits: half adder, full adder, n-bit adder, encoder decoder, multiplexer, demultiplexer

5.         Antennas and Propagation
Propagation of Waves: electromagnetic wave and its properties, different types of electromagnetic waves, propagation characteristics of EMW and short wave EMW,  anamal propagation of VHF, fading of EMW, diversity and its types, reflection and refraction of waves, ground waves, space waves, sky waves, tropospheric scattering
Waveguides and Resonators: theory and operation of waveguide, parallel plane, rectangular, circular, ridged and flexible waveguides; waveguide coupling, matching and attenuation; theory and operation of resonator
Antennas: types, antenna gain, antenna resistance, bandwidth, beamwidth, polarization, directivity, effect of antenna height, dipole, dipole arrays, folded dipole; yagi, parabolic, horn, helical, discone and loop antannas

6.         Instrumentation and Measuring Equipment
Components of instrumentation systems: transduction, signal processing, signal transmission;
Performance parameters: accuracy, sensitivity, precision, resolution, linearity, response time, frequency response, bandwidth, error in measurement;
Signal processing: signal amplification, integration, differentiation, filtering, wave shaping, noise problems
Control system: closed loop and open loop system
Measuring Equipments: oscilloscope, RF power meters, spectrum analyzers, label meter, frequency generator, analog & digital multimeter and its types (moving coil type, fixed coil type, etc), megger, measuring and testing equipments for optical fibre link, other measuring equipments in NEA
