It is a great pleasure for us to acknowledge for the assistance and contributions that were very important for successful completion for our project.

First of all, we would like to thank entire family of Department of Computer and Electronics Engineering, .............................................ng for providing project room as well as equipment needed during project work. Abstract

Most People of Nepal are not rich enough to buy their own vehicle which compels them to use local vehicles like taxi to go somewhere. These taxies charge according to the rate specified that depends upon the distance travelled. The main purpose of our project “GPS BASED VEHICLE BILLING SYSTEM WITH SAFETY FEATURES” is to measure the accurate distance travelled by the vehicle which will then be used to calculate the accurate fare. The main blocks of the overall system includes GSM modem, GPS receiver, accelerometer, LCD, SD card and Processing Device. Since we are using GPS receiver, we have also kept track of the vehicle by storing different coordinates in the SD card attached. Term “safety feature” in the title specifies the use of accelerometer to measure the tilt of vehicle. Comparing this value with a threshold value gives the information of accident if happened. Not only is this but a message is also sent in case of accident to the pre-specified person with the help of GSM module.

By the help of GPS receiver, the location of vehicle can be tracked. The GPS receiver will provide the longitude and latitude value which indicates the position of vehicle from which we can calculate distance travelled by the vehicle. Same value is also stored in the SD card for future reference. Whenever the vehicle stops, it calculates the fare with the help of distance travelled and specified rate. In case of change in rate of fare, GSM module receives message regarding change and new rate which will immediately updated. Apart from this continuous tilt measurement is done. In case of any abnormality in tilt, message will be sent to the required person as specified.
